5 Love Lane Penang
Minnie Florence Design completed the re-build of this Heritage Listed Shophouse in Penang, Malaysia.
The brief required the full re-design of interiors and exteriors across three levels. The design focus was to infuse the home with contemporary elements, increase natural light and ventilation and create an open plan space with multi-use rooms that would accommodate both family and guests. The provenance and character of the home were to be maintained under guidance of strict heritage controls.
The floor plan was re-worked to increase functionality and flow. Internal staircases and balustrades were rebuilt creating vertical symmetry and openess throughout. A fresh white and charcoal pallet, whitewashed timber flooring and traditional custom designed timber screens compliment the client's collection of artworks and antiques resulting in a beautiful home filled with natural light and ventillation.
